INDIA OFFICE APPOINTMENTS
(A. Godley)
Autograph Letter Signed to Sir Horace Davey,
(1833-1907, from 1893 an Appeal Judge, from 1894 1st Baron), saying he is afraid "that there are ... no engineering appointments in this country of which the India Office disposes", apart from teaching posts "attached to Cooper's Hill College", and "as to the Indian campaign ... by the help of Reuter & the Press, we look at it through a microscope ... Genl. Gatacre's being sent to Egypt ... does not suprise me, as I knew that the Govt. had ... been stopping some Indian reliefs on their way out, which showed that they meant business", 4 sides 8vo., India Office, Whitehall, S.W., 5th January
