DALY (Sir Henry Dermot, 1821-1895, General)

Daly served in the Sikh war, and at Delhi, Lucknow and Oudh. He was commander of the Central India Horse and political assistant at Angur for Western Malwa, 1861, agent to the Governor-General for Central India at Indore, and opium agent at Malwa, 1871. Richard Assheton Cross, 1823-1914, from 1886 1st Baron Cross, was secretary for India 1886-1892.
Major W. Johnson, whose life Mrs. Johnson wrote, was the only member of either service to be awarded the Crimea, Persia and Indian Mutiny medals.
