WALPOLE (Galfridus, 1683-1726, Naval Officer and Politicion, Joint Postmaster General)

He was the brother of Robert Walpole. He lost his right arm after a naval battle against the French in Vado Bay, Italy, in 1711. He continued to command ships for another nine years, the he was elected a member of parliament, he stepped down from parliament on his appointment as joint postmaster general, a position he held until his death.
Charles LOCKYER (died 1752) was the MP for Ilchester and at this time was chief accountant at teh South Sea Company.
