RUSKIN (John, 1819-1900, Writer and Critic)

Autograph Letter Signed 'J. Ruskin' to Sir William TITE (1798-1873, Architect, President of the Royal Institute of British Architects, MP) asking him to "excuse the informality of an unreturned card - which the Porter at the Europa never delivers - and we might make alternate calls for a fortnight & not meet. I am going to take some friends tomorrow at 12 ... to look at the transitions of style in the Ducal palace - if you have not been in Venice before - there might be some things which I could save you time by pointing out to you - and at all events - there are many on which I should like to have your opinion. It would give me great pleasure if you would accompany us - if not I shall call at the Europa tomorrow evening - but if you would have any interest in coming with us - will you kindly come here at 12 tomorrow - you will find Effie staying at home if you are rather inclined for a chat ...", 1 side 8vo., St Mark's Place, Thursday evening, no year but circa
