Postcard portrait photo, unsigned, titled in Russian and French, showing him three quarter length, full face, in full military dress, the verso has part of the lettering 'Sold for the benefit of the Community of St Evgenia' under a Red Cross, 5" x 3", no place, no date, circa tiny pinhole by left margin of image and two or three very small scuffs

The Grand Duke's wife, (St) Elisabeth of Hesse, employed almost the whole of the palace in the Kremlin for nursing and sending out clothing in the Russo-Japanese War, 1904-1905.
