Autograph Letter Signed to 'Monsieur', in French with translation, say he was "a little fatigued yesterday evening and had to deprive myself of the pleasure of coming to the soirée to which you had done me the honour of inviting me, as I had intended", he would have been "delighted to come and take part" on the 26th, but is "going back to Paris this week and will not be returning to London this season", and assuring him of his "perfect regard", 2 sides 8vo., London, 19th June short closed tear in blank top margin
(Translation) London, 19th June 1887.
Monsieur, I was a little fatigued yesterday evening and had to deprive myself of the pleasure of coming to the soirée to which you had done me the honour of inviting me, as I had intended.
As to the soirée on the 26th, I would have been delighted to come and take part, but I am going back to Paris this week and will not be returning to London this season.
