ADELAIDE (of Saxe-Meiningen, 1792-1849, Queen of William IV, Adelaide, Australia is named after her)

Autograph Quotation from the Book of Proverbs, signed 'A.R.' and dated, in an attractive embossed rococo lacy border, saying "Prov 16.9, A Man's heart deviseth his way, but the Lord directeth his Steps", on the verso in an early hand is "Queen Adelaide written on her sick bed", the quotation 1 side 3" x 4½", no place, traces on verso of former laying down affecting a few letters of the identification (easily supplied), imperceptible closed tears in edging in two places

Queen Adelaide had moved north for her health. In 1840 she made her home at Sudbury Hall, the Charles II mansion near Uttoxeter, which she rented for 3 years.
For the handwriting, note, for example, Queen Adelaide's capital P, with an open curve at the top and an almost closed curve at the foot.
