BLUNT (Wilfrid Jasper Walter, 1901-1987, Art Teacher, Author, Artist and Curator of the Watts Gallery)

Long Autograph Letter Signed to Mr Gwynne Hughes thanking him for his letter and saying that it is "always a great pleasure to hear that what one has written has been enjoyed. I've just finished a biography of old Sir Sydney Cockerell ... he always made a point of telling authors, actors, musicians etc. of performances enjoyed, & I've ample evidence among his papers of the pleasure he gave. Yes, I've known the Balder Bookshop for many years now, & have spent happy hours among its shelves; that was when I was living ... at Ham, but now, alas, I am seldom in its neighbourhood. I've two other books 'on the stocks' - another flower book (to be called Poppycock) & a book on Persia. Neither will be ready for a long time yet, but I'm miserable when I haven't several projects in varying stages of development ...", 2 sides 8vo., The Curator's House, Watts Gallery, nr Guildford, 17th March

BONE (Sir Muirhead, 1876-1953, Water-colour Painter & Etcher, War Artist)

Autograph Letter Signed to Charles REILLY (1874-1948, Head of the Liverpool School of Architecture) saying that "Encouraged by Mary I am venturing to bother you with this prospectus of my Spanish book. It reproduces (really magnificently) some 180 of my drawings - altogether a terrific work! Two original etchings also. It may amuse you - I hope you may find a moment in London to have a look at the book itself. Mary suggests to me that your friend Mr Peter Jones of Liverpool might be interested to hear of the book so I enclose a second prospectus. We are all here in Norfolk for the health of younger son Gavin - he has had a long fight with tuberculosis but I am glad to say is ever so much better now only has to be careful & this Norfolk air suits him ... he is getting attention at the Sanatorium at Mundesley ..." and ends with the hope that "your own health is much improved", 1 side 4to., Sunnywood, West `runton, Cromer, Norfolk 14th July
