Autograph Letter Signed to Mr Mansell Morny, concerning James Form Hartwright, "a late member of our Choir, now at School at the Boys High School, but living in the school House would like to be confirmed this spring. Have you a confirmation in All Saint's Church & could you present him with your candidates? I did some work in the way of preparation with him last year and would see him again this year if you were good enough to present him ... He seems a nice quiet well behaved boy and has, I believe a genuine wish to be confirmed ..", 3 sides 8vo., New College, Oxford, 22nd February

Autograph reference signed as Warden of New College, recommending "Mr E. V. Culme Seymour open Exhibitioner of New College has borne always an excellent character - that he has worked well and steadily and that we have good hopes that he will distinguish himself in the Schools. He has much independence & force of character & should, I think, make his mark & way in the world ... an Exhibition would be of very great assistance to him and that without further help it is a hard struggle for his father to continue ...", 2 sides 8vo., New College, Oxford, 24th December

SPOONER (William A., 1844-1930, Theologian & Educationalist, Originator of the 'Spoonerism')

Collection of 4 Autograph Letters Signed to Richmond, the first a brief letter inviting him to tea, the next commiserating with him on missing his first, and telling him that he nearly achieved it, quoting from the examiner "Richmond did some good work but was not quite up to the level of the first class, except perhaps in his history, he came very near it in his Old Testament work, and was good in New Test & in doctrine. He gave me the impression that with a little more time or trouble he might have got into the first Class", ending by telling him what a pleasure it has been to work with him, a year later he is glad to find "that you are up this term and to see you are better", inviting him to din and "meet Pule, who is preaching for us in Chapel on Sunday ...", the final letter says that he has signed "the College Testimonials for Holy Orders, and I hope they are reaching you today. I cannot send them without writing you a line to say how much I hope you may be able to do good and useful work as a clergyman and I fully believe you will ...", trusting that he will "find much happiness and satisfaction in it. What is going to be your destination? a country parish in Yorkshire? ...", 6 sides 8vo., New College, Oxford headed paper, 6th May 1905 to 7th December
