HENRY V'S CHAPEL

Fine Engraving of his Chapel in Westminster Abbey by George VERTUE (1684-1756) after Hubert-François GRAVELOT (1699-1773), with the tomb visible through the grill, above and to the side are 10 large statues of Kings, Queens, Apostles and Bishops and 4 smaller ones among the Gothic tracery, the sides, each with its door for a chantry priest, are continued upwards into galleried turrets with further statues, a most elaborate conception, above are Henry V's arms (quarterly France and England), below is the title in a splendid rococo shell, 15½" x 9", no place, no date, the original circa 1740, apparently a later impression as suggested by the date pencilled on the verso tiny defects in blank top corners, tiny hole in one letter of second title at foot, otherwise a good impression

He also held posts in Australia and Germany), the Emperor and Empress and three quarter length she is wearing traditional Japanese dress and he is wearing a suit, each in sterling silver frames with the Imperial Crest in gold at the head, 9" x 6" in frames 15" x 12", with their original wooden boxes, no place, c.

HOWARD (Ethel, 1865-1931, later Mrs H.A. Bell, English Governess, December 1895 - June 1898, to the sons of Wilhelm II)

Fascinating Archive compiled by her as Governess, containing drawings by the Princes, letters and telegrams to Miss Howard from the Empress Auguste Victoria and members of the Court, nearly all in English, photographs signed by the Princes and mementoes of their travels, menus of occasions when she dined with Wilhelm II and other invitations, and parts of long letters by Miss Howard to her family in England, with a Reprint of the text of her book 'Potsdam Princes' (originally London and New York, 1916) and an article about her from the New York Times (2nd July 1916), together about 150 items, Potsdam, Berlin, Kiel, Windsor and elsewhere, 1896 - some items including the drawings worn at the edges, some items a little dust soiled, but generally in good average condition
