Finely penned document signed, in English, to the President of Peru (José Rufino Echenique, 1808-1887, President 1851-1855), saying that "the Almighty having, in His infinite goodness, been pleased to grant Us a Prince", (Leopold, Duke of Albany, d. 1884), "born at Buckingham Palace at Ten Minutes past One O'Clock on the Afternoon of the 7th instant", feeling "from the Sentiments of Friendship which You have always expressed towards Us that You will receive the intelligence with pleasure", and recommending the President "to the Protection of the Almighty", signed also by George Villiers, 4th Earl of Clarendon, (1800-1870, Foreign Secretary 1853-1858, 1865-1868 and 1868-1870), 1 side 12½" x 8", Buckingham Palace, 30th April light original smudge without loss at end ('R') of signature
