FRERE-39272-1.jpg
FRERE Walter Howard, 1863-1938, Co-founder of the Anglican Religious Order the Community of the Resurrection and Bishop of Truro)

Fine pair of Autograph Letters Signed to Mr Wood, the first starting "when I saw your letter I said to myself Can it be Wood? & it was. Greeting. A capital idea to put dear old Figgis in Hall or Combination Rms. We have (I think) nothing but a fairly good (but tame) photographers Carte de Visite. No doubt we would gladly lend it. But I dare say you have that already. What I should like to see is a good crayon drawing - Rothenstein or such. But perhaps that is hardly possible posthumously. I mean to get anything characteristic. Snapshots get more realism to help but I am not sure that any are to be found here. I will search ...", and the second is "an interim note to express my & our thanks for the letter & portrait of JNF. Our photograph so far as I remember is much more of his maturity and more characteristic. But I must wait till I get back to see it & perhaps a snapshot might turn up ...", total 3 sides 8vo., House of the `resurrection headed paper, 8th July and 19th August
