Typed Letter Signed to Gilbert,  MONCKTON  (Gilbert Walter Riverside, b. 1915, 2nd Viscount Brenchley, Major-General), enclosing a copy of the White Paper, describing the policies of the Jordanian leadership and Government at different phases during the recent Gulf crisis, "Santayana once remarked that 'it is relatively easy to predict the future but well neigh impossible to ascertain the past'. I am not aware of the relevance of this statement to recent events, nor am I oblivious to our inherent subjectivity, as humans when it comes to apportionate blame", he goes on to say that he hopes the White Paper will clarify the misunderstood position during the Gulf Crisis, and this will pave the way for closer relations between Jordan and other members of the international community, 1 side 4to, Royal Palace Jordan, 31st July
