Since I last inspected this Fleet considerable reductions have been made but ... in efficiency & keenness the standard of the Fleet under your command remains as high as ever", congratulating them all and looking to them "to maintain at all times the honoured traditions of the Service", in his reply the Commander-in-Chief "expresses ... on behalf of the officers and men ... the intense pride & pleasure in having been under" the King's "immediate command at sea & in harbour", printed with manuscript additions, each 1 side 7¾" x 8", [Weymouth], 14th July no year but

Pair of temporary Commission Documents signed at the head with stamped signatures appointing Michael Thomson-Carmichael to become an officer in our land forces, in the first document dated 1915, the rank he has earned is that of Major, 1 side folio, January 1915, in the second document Mr Thomson-Carmichael has aquired the rank of Captain, this document has the 'Temporary stamp' all but rubbed off, 1 side folio, 23rd November
