Attractive Album in Russian,
'The Childhood of the Imperial Heir Alexei Nikolaevich', lithographed title in gold and blue with two angels, one of whom is placing a wreath on a crowned 'A', second title with the Imperial Crown, followed by 23 photographs, each with the year and often the month, the first shows him in baby clothes just sitting up in an X-shaped chair (January 1906), the third on board 'Standart' in front of four sailors, all five playing the balalaika, (June 1907), others are taken at the Skerries in Lake Ladoga, Ropsha (about 12 miles south of St Petersburg), the Crimea, Friedberg in Hesse-Darmstadt, Tsarskoe Selo (winter and spring), or show him mounted as a Cossack, a Royal Escort or a Grenadier, the early photos in particular are unusual, 25 single sides 11½" x 6½", bound in leather with gilt title on upper cover, St Petersburg, for the Moscow Branch of the Association for the Care of Poor and Sick Children,
rebound and restored so now in excellent condition
