'EYES IN INDUSTRY'

Group of 22 Typed Letter Signed or Autograph Letter Signed, addressed to the Revd Sir James Marchant, 1867-1956, the Free Church minister and social activist, about 'Eyes in Industry', a popular, scientific, account geared to health and safety, published by Longmans in 1951, in which Marchant was the prime mover, the letters are from Sir Arthur S. MacNalty, 1880-1969, the medical historian (12), Sir Stewart Duke-Elder, 1898-1978, the Queen's oculist (7), and Dr. Dorothy Adams Campbell (3), originally Hubert Claude Weston was to write Part I (of II) but the letters chart how the others found what he had written quite unsuitable, in 1948 Dr Campbell stepped into the breach and Weston published 'Sight, Light and Efficiency' separately (Lewis, 1949), the letters have much fascinating detail of the discussions which led to the book finally going ahead, 33 sides 8vo, v.a., 14th September 1946 - 16th August
