Charming small Document signed “Charles R” at the head by the King in exile,
a military commission appointing Edward Wood to be Colonel of a Regiment of Foot, “Giving you hereby full power & authority to leavy the full number of one thousand Men... And with the same to fight, kill & destroy all who are in armes against Us...”, he also orders him “to seize on any Fort, Castle, Towne or Citty in Rebelion against Us; And the same to keepe & defend for Us & in Our Name: And all Officers & Souldiers of the said Regiment are to obey & observe you in all things as their Colonel, as you are to obey all your superiour Officers” 7¾” x 3½” on vellum, entirely manuscript, with an unusually fine complete example of the King’s paper wafer seal, “Given at Our Court at Bruges”, 26th November

including a list of the organ music beforehand, including Vaughan Williams' gentle 'Rhosymedre', with the texts of the hymns and psalms, of the lesson read by Speaker George Thomas, Parry's 'I was glad', and special prayers for the occasion, including a longer one by the Revd. Harry Williams, former Dean of Chapel at Trinity College, Cambridge, who gave the Blessing, finally ending with Walton's 'Crown Imperial', beautifully printed in red and black, cover in black and gold including the Prince of Wales' feathers, 20 sides in covers 11¼" x 8", with the Ceremonial, including all the processions to St Paul's, the processions within the cathedral, and back to Buckingham Palace, the appearance on the balcony, and their final departure at 4 p.m, 33 sides in covers 12¼" x 8½", with the invitation from the Lord Chamberlain, made out to Mr. and Mrs. J.J. Scallan, gilt monogram and edges, 5¾" x 7¾" card, and with Mr. Scallan's ticket with facsimile signatures of the Dean of St Paul's and the Lord Chamberlain, 4" x 5" yellow card, together four items, 29th July
a few light creases in the ticket, a few very light marks on the blank rear cover of the ceremonial, otherwise in excellent condition
