showing him half length, full face, in full dress military uniform, the whole image apart from the plain background raised to a greater or less extent, notably the moustache and beard, the dress accoutrements, and the stars and medals, which have been touched up in colour or light sparkling, published by Alliance, 115 Newgate Street, London, who were licensees for the patents taken out in 1895 and 1896 by F.A. Taber of San Francisco, this card is Alliance's serial no. 176, 5½" x 3½", no place, no date, circa
a trifle silvered (mostly in the plain background), traces of old glue on verso partly obscuring publisher's letterpress, small chip in one corner but still a pleasing example
