FARNOL (John Jeffery, 1878-1952, English Author)

Fine Long Autograph Letter Signed to Mr R. F. Mawson saying that his letter has “touched my deeply because of its sincerity - indeed your words are, & will be an inspiration to me. Yes, yours is a letter I shall preserve & for which I am most truly grateful. You and your wife are the sort of readers for whom & to whom I write, & to know that my books have given you such pleasure is a joy to me & ample reward for the long, solitary hours I have spent in writing them. So to you dear folks, you & your wife - my grateful thanks...”, with a long postscript explaining his late reply because he has “been so deeply engaged finishing yet another novel, which has meant the greatest concentration. So that, like yours, very many letters have remained unanswered. The new book will be entitled ‘The Ninth Earl’. If you read this I should like to know how you like it. So if you care to write & tell me I should be very glad - more especially if your wife will add a line or so. So how about it R.F. old boy? AND if you ever do write again, tell me what RF stands for...”, 2 sides 8vo., with original autograph envelope, Little Dene, Denton Road, Eastbourne, 15th April
