(Randall Thomas, Baron, 1848-1930, Archbishop of Canterbury)
LS when Bishop of Rochester to (later Canon) Samuel Bickersteth,
(1857-1937) about the forthcoming week of Embertide, preparing candidates for Ordination, approving "your proposed list of subjects" and that "the Morning Addresses should be of a practical character and the Evening ... strictly spiritual ... It is well to give if possible a spiritual turn" to the former, "considering the occasion ... and the tone of mind which we desire to encourage", the order can be printed later, as the "hours of services, meals, &c., may require consideration", he ends by wishing his doctor could be less stern about keeping him in bed, 3 sides 8vo., Bishop's House, Kennington Park, 7th April
