For the wind you will have to pay regular fashionable prices for rehearsals & performance, so also for principal strings... I am very sorry to inform you that it is an utter impossibility to have places for this evening therefore I shall be deprived of the extreme pleasure of seeing you in the stalls. However I hope to see you soon again, either in Paris or else positively I shall call on you in London ..." with a postscript sending her "portrait which I promised, and hope you will find it resemblant ...", asking for one in return, 3 sides 8vo., on mourning paper, with original autograph envelope, both headed with her monogram, Saturday morning, no date,
