(José Balta, 1816-1872, from 1868 President), saying he fulfils "a painful duty in informing Your Excellency of the death of My very dear and beloved Son", Léopold, Duke of Brabant, Prince Royal, at Laeken on the 22nd, referring to the sufferings "which His Royal Highness bore with resignation", he does not doubt that the President "will join in the deep sadness into which this disastrous event has plunged Me, as well as the Queen, my beloved Wife, and the Royal family", and ending with his wishes for the prosperity of Peru, 1 side 4to black edged and conjugate blank, Laeken, 28th January
