to the President of Peru (José Balta, 1816-1872, President from 1868), acknowledging his letter saying that Don Francisco de Rivero's resignation as Peruvian Ambassador had been accepted, assuring him "that the language and conduct of Mr. de Rivero ... have been such as to merit Our Approbation and Esteem, and to maintain and improve the relations of Friendship and good Understanding" between their countries, and recommending the President "to the Protection of the Almighty", signed also by George Villiers, 4th Earl of CLARENDON, (1800-1870, Foreign Secretary 1853-1858, 1865-1868 and 1868-1870), 2 sides 12½" x 8" black-edged and conjugate blank, Windsor Castle, 12th December
