telling him that "all that this agreeable lecture wants to make it saleable is a famous signature. Without that, I doubt if you will place it in London, as it doesn't deal with people, things that Londoners know ... no-one is less known in London than the members of the 'Times' Staff. I think it is very nice, but I think also it lacks importance. Arm's Politics, it is excellent journalism and no adverse criticism can be made on it. The other thing is too slight to be criticised. If I am to animadvert, I can only say in belittlement that all this stuff has some slight lack of the excessively adroit facility of 'miscellany' ...", he ends by sending good wishes to his wife and offering to entertain them in New York, 2 sides 8vo., Hotel Californie, Cannes, 18th June
