PARRY
(Sir C. Hubert, 1848-1918, Composer, from 1894 Director of the RCM)
Autograph Letter Signed to Leo Frank SCHUSTER
(1852-1927, the musical society host) saying he is “getting your Orchestra under weigh. But I am leaving it to you to apply to Squire for cello, to Hobday to lead the Violas and to propose leaders for 1st and 2nd violins. Will the harp part be very trying? If just only reasonably difficult I will send my little (Erard) harp exhibitioner - if her family will let her go. For the wind you will have to pay regular fashionable prices for rehearsals & performance, so also for principal strings... It takes a lot of arranging...”, 3 sides 8vo., Royal College of Music, 1st November
