(Sir David, 1891-1963, Political Cartoonist)
Typed Letter Signed to Dennis WHEATLEY
(1897-1977, Novelist) saying that he remember “meeting you at Norman Collins’ party. You flatter me by your remarks about my cartoons; but that one which you particularise was not, I regret to say, inspired by your book, ‘The Found Atlantis’, which I have not read. Between ourselves, it is an old lemon of an idea which I have in my professional career squeezed five times. By the summary which you give me of your story it appears to be the kind of book which I dote upon so I have ordered a copy... Permit me therefore, as one of your registered readers to send you my kind regards...”, 1 side A4, 3 Rodborough Rd, Golders Green, 1st April 1936, together with a carbon copy of Wheatley’s reply, he was “interested to hear that the cartoon I mentioned had been thought of by you. long before I ever got down to the heavy labour of doing the end papers for THEY FOUND ATLANTIS. It is nice to hear that you feel the story might interest you. It has proved a wonderful success as it is a somewhat unusual tye of thriller, and the subject of the lost continent is one which has fascinated me for years.... In view of the fact that you appear to be a thriller reader I am enclosing some publicity material about my other stories...”, 1 side A4, 3th April
