Autograph letter signed to  Antoine-François de FOURCROY,  (1755-1809), as "Director General of Public Instruction" (from 1802), addressed to him at the "Jardin des Plantes" where he was Professor of Chemistry, in French with translation, recommending "Monsieur Thibault, professor at the Lycée of Bourges" as "Professor of Belles Lettres presently vacant at the said Lycée", whom he knew "in this capacity at the former École Centrale at Vendôme", signing himself "the old octogenarian Rochambeau, late Marshal of France, Grand Officer of the Légion d'Honneur", with a note signed 'F' by Fourcroy, "Has he been put forward for this place?", short notes in other hands, 1 side 4to, autograph address and postmark on conjugate leaf, Rochambeau, near Vendôme, 30th Frimaire Year 13 [21st December With a collector's label from "Collectione Conradi Adolphi Baronis de Malzen"

Document signed by all three as Lords of the Treasury, ordering the repayment of £51 19s 11d with interest to Aldermen Gardiner and Osborne of Norwich, for quartering "severall of Captaine George Littletons Soldiers in the Regiment of his Highness the Duke of Yorke ... for Severall days ... deducted out of their pay", to be taken from the £296462 17s 3d voted "for Paying off, and Disbanding the Forces Raised since the 29th September 1677", with an attractive 18th century engraving, 11½" x 7¾", of Godolphin's funeral monument erected by his daughter-in-law Henrietta Churchill, from 1722 Duchess of Marlborough in her own right, the document printed with manuscript additions, 1 side folio, Whitehall, Treasury Chambers, 7th July narrow piece torn from right hand margin to cancel the document (not touching the signatures), with loss of about 8 letters (easily supplied), tiny tear in horizontal fold of engraving

Table showing the State of the French Forces Stationed in the Kingdom of Naples, in a small neat hand, in Italian with transcriptions and translations of the headings and notes, signed by him 'Marchese RHODIA', showing the Places, Numbers and Corps "under the command of Lieutenant-General GOUVION DE ST-CYR"(Laurent, 1764-1830, Marquis, Marshal of France, 1812, reforming war minister under the Restoration), copied from Gouvion's official lists by Rodia, the first section shows how completely the French have occupied places of any size, coastal or inland, in the whole of the heel of Italy as far round as Taranto, as well as Pescara and Chieti further north, there follow the names of all the regiments ('half-brigades') involved, infantry, cavalry and artillery, including regiments from Napoleon's own Kingdom of Italy in the north, Switzerland and Poland, with the numbers in each, totalling 13,393 men, followed by interesting details of the Artillery Train - Mobile Forges ('Forge di Campagna'), Wagons, Chests and Replacement Gun Carriages, hauled by 441 draught animals, supporting 16 cannon (6- and 12-pounders) and 4 howitzers ('obici'), Rodia notes that besides the above, "and temporary batteries set up in the Gulf of Taranto", the French hold "all the fortresses in Apulia and those in Pescara in Abruzzo, except Manfredonia, with their respective Batteries and stores of munitions", 1 side 5" x 7" in margins 6¾" x 8¾", Taranto, 1st February (Transcriptions of Headings and Notes)
