Autograph Letter signed, to Major Hamilton, Assistant Adjutant General, following the Assizes, for the information of Major General Champagne, saying that "it is not in my Power to forward the Deserter alluded to in the Route annexed [not present] - the Officer Commanding the Detachment 37th Reg[imen]t having reported to me - that He has No arms as yet for his Detachment", with a Memorandum on the 2nd side pointing out that the deserter's real name "by his own account is, Charles Wellings - belongs to the 2d. Batt: 96th Regt. and Deserted from Bexhill Barracks" which agrees with the "Jail Books", 2 sides 4to., summary on fourth side, Shrewsbury, 30th March light remains of tipping at edge of fourth side

Autograph Letter Signed in French with translation, to Count Birago, Captain of Auxiliaries and Commanding the Canale Brigades at Cherasco (French Querasque), forwarding a letter from Count Bezin enclosing a note from 'His Majesty', Carlo Emmanuele III of Sardinia and Prince of Piedmont [these enclosures not present], for the Commander at Cherasco to have the auxiliaries supplied as necessary, saying that it is of old date, and if that causes any difficulty to send a courier in haste to get it repeated, meanwhile Birago is to keep to "all the orders I gave you by your Lieutenant Blavet", 1 side 4to., Canale (French Canal), 2nd March

LINDORES (Jane, née Reeve, 1759 or 1760-1837, wife of John Leslie, 1750-1813, Lieutenant-General, from 1775 8th Baron Lindores)

Autograph letter, unsigned, addressed to her husband at Gey's House, near Maidenhead, saying that her first letter "since my necessary departure" had "opened an Opportunity of your making such Proposal for a Separation between Us as you should think proper", but to no effect, she is now required "by my Proctor to furnish those minute instructions necessary ... the heavy expence of which we must both wish to avoid", she is still open to an "amicable Separation" but otherwise must pursue protection and remedy in "the Commons", that is, Doctors' Commons near St.Paul's, where the ecclesiastical judges and lawyers resided, and requests "your answer in a few days ... directed to Mr Bogg", 1 side 9½" x 8¼", address on verso, no place, May
