Autograph Letter Signed to Miss Constance Sitwell
(born 1877, Author) saying that his "friend James Stephens" (1880-1950, Irish Novelist and Poet) "who has been staying near us, lent me yr 'Flowers & elephants'. It is one of the rare books wh. show an understanding of India, with its touching beauty and sordidness. A lovely book all through, flower-like & fragrant. I wonder, for I see it appeared in 1928, no one had put info into my hands, for India is a subject near my heart. I admired Forster's 'passage' ...", (E. M., 1879-1970, Author of 'A Passage to India'), "but wrote him at the time that he had missed the beauty of India. James Stephens has an unusual feeling for its poetry. He is to broadcast on Indian poets next week ... I wonder whether you have written other books ...", 2 sides oblong 8vo., with original autograph envelope, Far Oakridge, Stroud, Gloucestershire, 25th July

Autograph Letter Signed to Mrs Inge
thanking her for writing to his daughter Rachel "she herself, now that she is away fron the town, is lyrically happy. Her delight in the fields & sky, after the many weeks at St Bartholomews, is good to read. I was sorry indeed that my tumble made me giddy, the only ill result was the perturbation it caused your husband. I thoroughly enjoyed my evening with you both. If you happen to be in town on the 18th would you come in to see our student's work. They would be delighted to see you ...", 1 side oblong 8vo., 13 Airlie Gardens, Campden Hill, no date,
