Fine Autograph Letter Signed to Peter Vandervoort, Merchant in New York,
saying that he should "have wrote you last week but Mrs Vandervoort wrote, but unluckily her letter failed of a Conveyance, she now writes you & sends also some monies which will be deliverd you at the Port. I received your letter to Port & I am glad to hear you are in a way to Purchase the articles I mentioned to you, hope it will be Safe to Ship them for this Place however don't doubt but you will take every Precaution necessary for their Safe Conveyance, have nothing New from Camp except a small Acquisition our men made on Long Island near Boston, where they took a few Prisoners & a Number of Cattle & Sheep. A New Intrenchment is forming in Roxbury Neck, near George Tavern, how these Movements will end God only knows, haste prevents my adding more, for any Particulars Concerning Family Affairs I refer you to Mrs Vandervoorts Letter ..." ending "I am Dear Sir your Friend and Brother", 1 side folio with autograph address on the verso, Hartford, 16th July
