recording the depositions of Sergt. John Pronton, Sergt. James Newbury, and the statements of Mr Keefe, Landlord of the Thistle & Crown, Billet Lane, and Corporal James Dunn, concerning the abusive language and drunken behaviour of Sergt. Rippon, Light Infantryman, on one occasion Rippon's unsheathed sword was "carried to the Bar and left there for a Gallon of Beer", the Landlord refused to accept it and it remained there three days, meanwhile Rippon threw "his Sash & Sword Belt" on the floor, whereupon Dunn saw "some of the men twist the Sash round him and pull him about the room", Rippon boasted of drinking "ten glasses of spirits that morning", 1 side folio, no place, 31st January

giving a vivid picture of General Alexei Nikolaevich KUROPATKIN, (1848-1925), and his officers at work near the front, of military supplies being organised, the countryside through which they were fighting, and the railway itself, one print (no. 12) shows Kuropatkin at the railway station at Liao Yang, scene of some of the heaviest fighting in the summer of 1905, 28 prints 4½" x 6½", Manchuria, 1904 -
one print has a small fault from light, otherwise in good average condition, edges a little worn
