I have been thinking of you and yours continually since, to my deep regret, I first heard of your most heavy trial. I believe that few of your friends have been able to enter into your feelings and be present in mind in your house of mourning more keenly and closely than myself... my heart is full of many things to say to you. Only let me add that I feel real comfort - though you can scarce entertain such a feeling as yet, in looking forward with certainty to the treasure of soothing and gratifying reflections that must from time to time flow in to you from the remembrance of your husband’s excellences, and the many sincere testimonials that you will receive of love, respect and admiration felt for him by a wide circle. I know from experience that this is the greatest earthly consolation that we can receive in sad circumstances as ours. I wish also to ass your dear daughters of my great concern on their account also.
