Autograph Letter in third person but also signed 'F Burdett' to Mr Gahagan,
thanking him "for his very handsome and flattering present", 1 side small 8vo., Piccadilly, 23rd March
laid down on the back of a letter signed 'WP Rupell', which has been laid down at corners
Sir Francis campaigned especially for prison reform, individual liberty, and Catholic emancipation, being committed to the Tower in 1810 for breach of privilege in the Commons. He married in 1793 Sophia, daughter of Thomas Coutts the banker, and was father to Baroness Burdett-Coutts (1814-1906).
