But I am not at all despondent, having great faith in the common sense and justice of the great mass of the workmen", 4 sides 8vo., House of Commons, 3rd August

Burt, a miner's son, spent only 2 years in all at village schools, and was himself in the coal mines from age 10 to 28. He was President of the T.U.C. at Newcastle in 1891, and Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Trade 1892-1895.
