Autograph Letter Signed to 'My Dear Sir', inviting him to dinner "before Five", the guests to include the Duke of Leeds, the Chief Baron, the Solicitor-General and "Mr Astle the Antiquary", with a newspaper cutting of Abbot's election as Speaker in 1802, including the speeches of his proposer and Abbot's reply, the letter 83 Pall Mall, London, 1 side 4to., Saturday 14 May n.y., c.

Abbot, an outstanding Speaker of the House of Commons, was responsible for the Act of 1800 for taking the first Census, and Chief Secretary for Ireland 1801. He was also responsible for the Private Bill Office and the Royal Record Commission.
