Autograph Letter Signed in French and English, with translation, to Evelyn, (first wife of the historian J.E.C. Bodley, 1853-1925, and mother of Ava, Lady Waverley, 1896-1974), thanking her for her New Year card, and saying "Alas: the Count W on the grey is not as smart-looking as that ... I hope that he and the grey will again and often have the pleasure of hunting with you ... Please remember me to the new Academician", her husband, elected corresponding member of the French Academy in 1902, "and accept ... the offering of my devoted respect", note in red by Mrs. Bodley '... Swedish Minister' at head of first side, 4 sides 8vo., Brussels, 7th January

The Bodleys had a Château near Fontainebleau. They were close friends of Princess Mathilde Bonaparte, who maintained a famous literary and historical salon.
