COZENS-HARDY
(Herbert Hardy, 1838-1920, Master of the Rolls 1907-1918, from 1914 1st Baron)
Autograph Letter Signed to Alfred William BENNETT ,
(1833-1902, Lecturer in Botany at Bedford College and St. Thomas' Hospital), telling him that "Anstie ... is very hearty and anxious to do anything that will tend to success ... we are not so well represented ... on the Annual Committee as could be wished", they both feel "the awkwardness of a circular signed (1) by not a single senator (2) by not a single practising doctor (3) by no numerous body of graduates (4) by no men who have either an official or representative character", afraid that it may "rouse the ... fury of the medicals and deprive us of a good many neutrals ... it suggests the tailors of Tooley St. ... I will do what I can in the way of a private whip, and I am not without hope that we may succeed", 3 sides 8vo., 50 Ladbroke Grove, W., 6th January
laid down on blank fourth side
