CASTILLO (Ramón S., 1873-1944, Vice-President & Acting President of Argentina 1940-42, President 1942-43)

Fine manuscript letter in French with translation, signed, addressed to  GEORGE II  King of Greece, (1890-1947, reigned 1922-1924 and 1935-1947), expressing his great pleasure on hearing that "Your Majesty's beloved Sister-in-Law, Her Royal Highness the Princess Frederika Luise", (1917-1981), "born Princess of Brunswick and Luneburg, Wife of Your Majesty's beloved Brother, His Royal Highness the Hereditary Prince Paul", King Paul I, (1901-1964, reigned 1947-1964), "has happily given birth, on the 2nd June 1940, to a Prince who has received at baptism the name Constantine", the present ex-King Constantine II, (reigned 1964-1974), " ... I hasten to address to Your Majesty my most sincere felicitations, and at the same time beg Your Majesty to be assured of the prayers I make for the prosperity of the Kingdom of Greece, Your Majesty's personal happiness and that of Your August Family", embossed wafer seal with the arms of Chile, 2 sides folio gilt-edged (2nd and 4th blank), original envelope and embossed wafer seal of Chilean arms, Buenos Aires, 20th October

Castillo took over in 1940 from Roberto M. Ortiz, (1886-1942, president from 1938), when the latter was accused of a scandal over the sale of land for an airport, though the Argentine Parliament refused to accept Ortiz's resignation.
