Autograph Letter in Italian with translation, signed, to an unnamed correspondent, thanking His Excellency for his "most valued letter of the 4th" in which he read "with the greatest displeasure the wretched state of your affairs", telling him that he has not failed "to represent strongly the whole matter here in the necessary quarters", hoping that his correspondent "will have proof of the results, with the return of Herr Hohenauer", and rejoicing "exceedingly at having been able to serve Your Excellency", 1 side folio and conjugate blank, Vienna, 11th May

Philipp, b. 20th July 1671, d. 20th August 1736, was appointed Commandant-General of all troops in the Kingdom of Naples on 29th May 1708. From 1714 he was Governor of the Austrian Duchy of Mantua till his recall to Vienna in 1734. The Treaty of Vienna, 1735, by which Austria received the reversion of Tuscany, was the result of intense bargaining by the Powers over her possessions, especially in Italy.
