Autograph letter in the third person from her Lady-in-Waiting, to  Alice Verne BREDT , (1868-1958, pianist and violinist), thanking her "for her most kind letter of sympathy to Her Majesty on her great loss", and saying that "the Queen is much touched by the kind thoughts that prompted Mrs. Bredt to write", Royal Arms in heading, 1 side 8vo., Buckingham Palace, 24th June

The present Queen Mother was a former pupil of Mathilde Verne, Alice's sister, and Alice gave marionette shows to the Royal family. The present Queen's grandmother, Cecilia, Countess of Strathmore, 1862-1938, had died on 23rd June.
