Ticket signed 'Cholmondely D[eputy] G[reat] C[hamberlain]', admitting Miss Newcomb "to the House of Peers this day" and specifying "Lady's Ticket Full Dress", stout pink card 3" x 4½", blind embossed Royal Arms, Lord Great Chamberlain's Office, 21st June corner torn off in cancellation

On his mother's death in 1838, Lord Cholmondeley succeeded in her right as Lord Great Chamberlain of England, have previously as her Deputy officiated at the coronation of Willam IV. His mother and aunt were co-heirs of their brother Robert, 4th Duke of Ancaster and Kesteven, hereditary Great Chamberlain. Lord Cholmondeley officiated at the Coronation of Queen Victoria, with his nephew Lord Willoughy de Eresby as deputy.
