Autograph Letter Signed 'Garter' to Sydney George, (1855-1931, financier and businessman, 2nd Viscount Knutsford), saying "... I have never written anything for the London Hospital - but I have often asserted that I wrote 'The War Prayer' for Lord Knutsford's Hospital for nerve breakdowns and gossip has misapplied the statement - The London Hospital", of which Lord Knutsford was chairman, "and you are one - Even Ludo Foster wrote the other day and asked me to send him a copy of the songs ... I cant stop it", 2 sides 8vo., Ratton, Willingdon, Sussex, 13th August neat identification of writer on conjugate third side

Sir Alfred wrote the words and music of 'A War Prayer' in 1914, and although sold for only a penny it had realised nearly £70 by May 1917 for Lord Knutsford's Hospital at Palace Green, Kensington.
