Autograph Letter Signed to Henry James Perry, (1800-1869, from 1846 Commissioner in Lunacy for Liverpool District), saying he will "endeavour to come over early. I want to have a long chat with both of you - & hope we shall be alone, if so it seemeth good to you both. Lord Derby will do", signature repeated with addressee's name on verso, 1 side oblong 8vo., no place, no date,c. short tear in one fold, traces of laying down on blank portion of verso, addressee's name curtailed on verso

Warren was recorder of Hull, 1852-1874, and M.P. for Midhurst, 1856-1859. Among his novels are 'Ten Thousand a Year', 1839. Perry had been Lord Chancellor Lyndhurst's principal secretary, 1841-1846. The 14th Lord Derby, later Prime Minister, was a literary as well as a political figure.
