Autograph Letter Signed to 'Dear Sir', thanking him "for putting me in communication with Pearson's ... I have not much modesty (the virtue of those who have no other, as Schopenhauer says) but I am very self-critical, & doubt if any of this flattering attention is deserved ... On the other hand, tho' I work in this hole & corner place ... I have exhibited by the invitation of the various art societies, at Hamburg, Berlin, Copenhagen, Brussels, Mannheim, Venice, Budapest, & St. Petersburg as well as in in London ... not a bad record for 1897", and hoping one day to thank him personally, 3 sides 8vo., 10 S.
