NILSSON (Christine, 1843-1921, Swedish Singer)

I should have liked to pay you a short visit at your beautiful Palace!", Hampton Court, "Well [in French] eveything is still up in the air - I will let you know the final decision", she is "dead tired" having been out "every night nearly. Nilsson's voice was brilliant, though not powerful, and perfectly even over 2½ octaves up to top E. She made her début as Violetta, and excelled also as Ophelia, Marguérite and Mignon. Her first husband (1872) was Auguste Rouzaud (d. 1882), and her second (1887) Don Ángel Vallejo y Miranda (d. 1902), Count of Casa Miranda. They spent the winters at their Château Vallaya at Menton, 1900-1914.
The Grand Prix of 20,000 fr. was for the 'Tir aux Pigeons', attracting the best trap-shots of all countries.
