Wood of the Cheltenham Gramophone Society, saying "Vernon Handley ... is up and down the country but you will hear from him before long" (1st March 1978), he is "a spellbinder" (17th March 1978), her granddaughter Patricia is playing Feste in Cheltenham on the 29th but unfortunately she cannot stay till the 2nd (2nd September 1978), she spent "all last week in Liverpool where Mr. Handley was making a record of Sir Arthur's music with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra for E.M.I. ... Sir Arthur spent 1923-1925 teaching at Santa Barbara and returned with his new bride. He was music director at the B.B.C., 1942-1944.
