Autograph Letter Signed to Harold Chipp of the Cheltenham Gramophone Society, saying she should be happy to come, "My problem - as a music critic of The Times - is in trying to fix a date so far ahead ... but Mondays are fortunately a little easier ... as far as London concerts are concerned" and suggesting 25th November, "I believe money is always in short supply - in music clubs everywhere - so would 10 guineas fee, plus expenses, be acceptable?", with a P.S. "I am working on a book about Chopin", 2 sides folio, 7D Abbey Road, St. John's Wood, N.W.8, 24th March two filing holes in blank margin

Joan Chissell trained as a pianist and taught at the R.C.M.. Among her books are lives of Schumann and Brahms, and of Chopin for younger readers, 1965.
