Cox spent nearly a year as a farm worker in Kent and Surrey to gain first-hand experience, and taught mathematics at Aligarh in India, 1885-1887. He was secretary of the Cobden Club, 1899-1904, and edited the Edinburgh Review, 1912-1929.
