Letter to Birkbeck from Mr. Hague, about the affairs of J.H. Marshall, who held "a good situation in Somerset House" but had deductions made from his salary for "the payment of his Debts", Hague thinks Dr. Birkbeck was to hold these deductions, he received £7.7.1 in 1828 but would like to know if there is any more to come as his claim on Marshall stands at £101.2., 1 side 4to, 36 Cable Street, Wellclose Square (E.1.), 11th September

Birkbeck took a leading part in founding the London Mechanics' Institute, 1824, now Birkbeck College.
