Autograph Letter Signed to Mrs. Dicey, saying that "Boy Sorters (age 15 to 17) and Asst. Letter Carriers are now almost invariably filled up" from "deserving Telegraph Messengers", but sometimes by nomination, and suggesting "Perhaps a telegraph clerkship would suit the lad", he sends a circular about wages and qualifications, "If he has passed at School in the 5th or 6th Standard he would, I should say, be able to get into this office", 4 sides 8vo, Secretary's Office, General Post Office, E.C., 13th April

Hodgson joined the GPO in 1868, was made PMG, British Guiana, 1882-1888, and went on to govern Barbados and British Guiana.
